There is a sense in which Accidental Pharisees could be accused of being an anti-Radical or anti-Crazy Love or anti Gospel-Centered. Though he doesn’t mention by name the books or the authors, it is clear he has read them and clear he is concerned about them.

But I don’t quite see his book as a full-out critique. I wrote Accidental Pharisees because I’ve become increasingly concerned that many in our tribe are making the same mistake.

The thesis of Accidental Pharisees (as you might expect) is that many Christians are unintentionally promoting a Pharisaical brand of Christianity, which Osborne refers to as the "new legalism." While seemingly no subset of Christianity is immune from the author's attention (he singles out missional, gospel-centered, and organic groups among others), there is little doubt that Osborne's real .Zealous faith can have a dangerous, dark side.
